Rising 3rd-5th Graders

Rising 3rd-5th Graders: This course is designed to accomplish the following goals:

These are the years that can convince a child that reading is fun or convince them that reading is the least enjoyable thing on the planet. The increase in text complexity between 2nd and 3rd, 3rd and 4th, and then 4th and 5th is enormous each year. Many parents find their student ending one of these elementary grades with passing scores in reading only to quickly see them drop below the mark shortly after the next school year begins. It is shockingly common and is the main reason I decided to start offering these courses. Investing the time and effort into making sure that reading is a skill they feel confident and eager to practice will ensure your child becomes a lifelong reader. I always tell my students that reading and writing are just like sports. In order to be good at soccer, tennis, football, swimming, etc., you have to practice. The same is true for reading and writing. The upside to practicing is that the more you do it, the easier it gets. And once you get good at it, the entire world is suddenly at your fingertips. Find me someone you consider highly successful and I assure you, you will also have identified an avid reader. This course is designed not only to reinforce the skills your child has already acquired but also to enhance those skills making the huge jumps in reading levels between the upper elementary grades so much easier for them to conquer.
